| Elio Garis is a versatile artist who experiments and plays with different materials, mixing, juxtaposing and blending colours, shapes and textures. Some of his copper sculptures have the appearance of gigantic machines; round, smooth and majestic that have temporarily come to a stop in some Italian piazza: soon they will be moving and rolling again, propelled by their own energy. By contrast, there are then some small, white, evocative polystyrene pieces suggesting birds about to take off and soar in the sky. Gaiety and playfulness define Garis's famous Sands. They are bold in colour |
