Biography:

| Luz de Alvear was born in Santander, Spain. Her father, the professor and painter Gerardo de Alvear, was her first mentor and teacher. |

Education:

| Luz de Alvear studied in Buenos Aires at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Academia Josse. In the 50s she travelled to Paris to study the impressionists and well as other Parissiane contemporary painters. Later, in the 60s, she took various trips around Italy to study art. |
