| Burma, 1930 – Burmese contemporary master artist, U Lun Gywe paints in an IMPRESSIONIST style and is often regarded as the greatest living master of Burmese paintings. He graduated from the Art Institute of Teacher's Training and continued his studies under famous artists such as U Thet Win, U Chit Maung, U San Win, U Thein Han and U Ngwe Gaing. I paint according to my emotions says the artist drawing inspiration from smell and textures light and shadow. When painting flowers he feels their freshness their growth and their movements. U Lun Gywe is a master with colours often in an impressionistic manner and is particularly fond of painting the beauty of women. In addition to oil paintings he also creates works in watercolors pastel and by drawing. He exhibits regularly in Rangoon and has participated in several art exhibitions abroad such as in Japan (1985) Korea (1989) Australia (1990 1991 1992) USA (New York 1990) and Singapore (1995). His works are collected by the SINGAPORE ART MUSEUM and the NATIONAL ART GALLERY OF MALAYSIA.
