Contemporary Italian Master artist, Francesco CLEMENTE is one of the most illustrious European TRANS-AVANTGARDE artists.

By the time he completed high school, CLEMENTE was already a self-trained painter and poet. In 1970, he moved to Rome and began studying architecture, where he met artists, such as, Cy TWOMBLY y Alighiero BOETTI. Both these artists influenced his development as an artist.

In 1971, VALLE GIULIA GALLERY, Rome, held the first exhibition by this artist, after which CLEMENTE moved to India and opened a studio in Madras. In 1979, he began his association with the TRANS-AVANTGARDE movement, and became one of the leading exponents along with CHUCCHI, CHIA, DE MARIA and PALADINO.

He began receiving international acclaim during the 1980s, when he also published several books and also a group of miniature paintings, in conjunction with Hindu artists, from Southern India.

In 1981, he moved to New York, where he currently works.
