| Frank was born in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up in Johannesburg. He studied briefly at Johannesburg School of Art before working as an assistant to a local photographer. In 1977 he travelled to London which became his home to the present day. After taking on small assignments for a few years he eventually met Art Kane and assisted him whenever he was on assignment in Europe. This relationship was to become a profound influence on Frank's future. Art's uncompromising attitude towards his work and his unique vision remained with Frank who went on to build a successful career as an advertising photographer in London and the rest of the world. Frank has always done a lot of personal and experimental work and has continually tried new techniques. He has recently become heavily involved in digital enhancement and is fascinated by the possibilities of the computer; to Frank this is the dark room of the present. |
