Biography:
American graphic artist, whose limited edition art prints depict her own charming interpretation of feminity and humour.

Alece was born in Salida, Colorado, USA. She currently lives and works in Boulder, Colorado. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Advertising Design, from the Colorado Institute of Art, Denver, Colorado, USA.

She has also undertaken various studies in Printmaking.

Comments:
Exhibited works by Alece Birnbach are collagraphs. A plate is constructed from found objects: feathers, or sand for example, that leaves an imprint. The plate is then printed in a combination of intaglio and relief techniques. The result is art similar to monotypes that vary from print to print. Each piece is one of a kind, printed with oil based inks on acid free paper. The impression therefore, is timeless.
 
Artwork Comments:
In Birnbach's own words: As inspiration to my art I have taken the enthusiasm I have always felt about my own femininity. My art is an exploration of that femininity its ebbs and flows. I have chosen to leave the more serious political statements [on feminism] to the many other artists who wish to tackle them. I am determined instead for these images to portray the lighter more humorous side of this greatly infinite subject. It would be my greatest hope for people to see a part of themselves or someone they know in these images and laugh. Although in one sense Alece does create limited editions of these works each one is slightly different making them unique one-of-a-kind prints.
